Longene Issues in Ubuntu 9.10

So I have Longene all installed on a fresh copy of Ubuntu 9.10 32bit, I am booted into the proper kernel, and logged in as root. I also made my Windows file executable. However when I run the file from command line it tells me "cannot execute binary file" Am I missing something?

Also, does anyone know if there is a precompiled version of the Longene kernel that has better general hardware support? On my laptop I have it installed on my touch pad does not work, the wifi does not work, and my USB mouse is very choppy when I use it...

If you install longene from source, every time you boot your system, you should cd to the module directory, and run
insmod unifiedkernel.ko
then, you can run win32 app such as:
./HellWorld.exe

Sorry, should have mentioned I read through that thread already. I have Longene installed from the provided Ubuntu 9.10 .deb files

I am booted into the proper kernel, and logged in as root. I also made my Windows file manually executable. I can confirm that the unifiedkernel.ko module is loaded properly and my Wine path displays properly. I did not have any preinstalled versions of Wine - this is a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10 I setup just for playing with Longene.

Any suggestions on why it is failing to run an executable for me?

It's strange, this error only found when I forget to load the unifiedkernel.ko .

According to what you said, it is indeed very weird that Longene doesn't work when unifiedkernel module loaded well and wine installed ok.
1) Emm, How about run the command line:
#winecfg
2) Is your exe file runnable under Windows Xp etc?
Get another exe file from windows such as Notpad.exe to run in Longene.

Howdy There,

Yes, winecfg runs 100% fine. I grabbed a copy of the notepad.exe (that works fine on my Wine install on 10.04), made it executable, and then tried to run it. It also fails to run, but this time gives me a different error

err:process:start_wineboot failed to start wineboot, err 2

The other file I am trying to run is SteamInstall.msi from SteamPowered.com. It still fails to run with the message

Open to input on what to do,

you can ignore the error of wineboot, it's not an error

you should run *.msi like:

Alrighty, any idea why the notepad.exe would fail to load then if the wineboot message does not mean anything? That is the only output it gives in terminal.
